72 Hours in the Cinque Terre – Guide & Itinerary

If there is any paradise on Earth, it’s in Cinque Terre. Yes! You read it right. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a picture-perfect place. It consist of five villages namely Vernazza, Monterosso al Mare, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.

These five villages along with the beautiful coastline and hillside make the whole Cinque Terre National Park. Negligible corporate hustle bustle makes this place one of the most popular tourist destination. If you are planning to spend some quality time with your family and friends, then Cinque Terre is a perfect place.

Are you having limited time to spend? No need to suppress your desire to visit this amazing destination just because time is a constraint. Just reach Rome and board the fastest Train to Cinque Terre, which takes about 3.5 hours.

Here the best 3-day plan to make your memorable stay in the Cinque Terre.

Day 1

With so many Luxury villa rentals in Vernazza, this is the best place for your base stay. Also, Vernazza is easily accessible by car, even though we recommend to come here by train.

But you can also choose for your accommodation Monterosso or Manarola. There’s plenty of rental solutions there, too.

Reach Vernazza on day 1. Since you must be tired, because of your journey, just simply roam about on the streets for sometime or go to the coast and get sun kissed or simply mingle with the locals. By the evening you must visit the Castle and Waterfront Piazza  or take a stroll to La Vista della Terra. If you happen to be there on a Wednesday or a Friday, from April to October you might have the chance to get the best highlights of Opera notes at Vernazza Opera Festival. End you day with an Aperitif drink at Ananasso Pub or Blue Marlin Pub (a ritual for the locals) and have dinner in one of the lovely and excellent restaurant of the village.

Day 2

Give an early start to your day. Buy the tourist travel passes for the whole day, hike or take a local train to Monterosso. With a frequency of 20 minutes or less, train is one of the best ways to travel from one village to another within Clique Terre. But hikers can, of course, find the very best of the sceneries walking along the cliff from Vernazza to Monterosso. Get your favorite place for breakfast and enjoy the view.

Take a stroll along Monterosso promenade, choose one of its equipped beaches or go shopping in the old part of village. Art and history lovers can also visit Monterosso churches and learn history and traditions of the people.

The beach is great early morning

Monterosso Beach

you can spend the entire day in Monterosso if you are a beach lover or you can have lunch there and a taste of  local wine (Enoteca Internazionale is just amazing!)  and in . the afternoon move by train to Corniglia and Manarola.

For those who want to discover Monterosso by night , the village has plenty of tasty restaurants. Our suggestion Da Miki by the beach.

Another evening suggestion can be offered by Riomaggiore.

Pick one of Cinque Terre Riviera boat services to reach Riomaggiore.

Explore that perfect natural scenery and watch the soothing sunset. Grab that perfect pizza for your dinner or choose one of the lovely restaurants of the Marina, Dau Cila or Rio Bistro are our suggestions, Food is excellent and views incomparable.

Then travel back to Vernazza. Trains run till late at night.

The Mediterranean Sea at night.

At night, reach back to Vernazza and pack your luggage along with those beautiful memories that you are sure to carry back with you.

Day 3

There is still time in the morning to get the very best of the Cinque Terre Early Morning. Wake up early , go to the tiny beach of the village under the church and dive into the calm and warm waters of the Mediterranean sea. You’ll be alone or with just one or two mates and Vernazza waters will be like your private morning pool. The sea bottom is low so, why not doing some acqua gym exercise to waken up your muscles and, if it your last day in the village, be ready for starting your departure trip.
But why not going to Cinque Terre Riviera office and ask to stay longer? They might always have a chance to let you extend your lovely stay in the Cinque Terre!

So now in order to explore this heaven, all you need to do is, travel to Cinque Terre, just sip their divine wine and enjoy its flavours.
